Adobe has announced that the latest version of Acrobat, called simply Acrobat X will releasing next month. The new version comes over two years after the previous Acrobat 9 version.
Acrobat X comes with a revamped and streamlined new interface. A large part of Acrobat's functionality is not accessible through three side bars, "Tools", "Comment" and "Share" thus making good use of the horizontal space afforded by today's widescreen monitors.
In addition Acrobat X will also feature the a new "Protected Mode", which sandboxes the document being viewed, thus making it difficult for malicious documents to hard a user's computer.
Acrobat X will also feature Office 2010 support, and will integrate well with Microsoft Sharepoint for collaboration. It will be able to import and export for Microsoft Office formats with greater retention of formatting and styles. For collaboration Acrobat X will also include the new SendNow feature of Acrobat.com which allows one to share large documents via email.
