Academy students and alumni came away with an impressive array of honors in the 2010 Adobe Design Achievement Awards, a prestigious competition celebrating student achievements that reflect the convergence of technology and the creative arts. In all, nine Academy entrants won recognition for their work in Print Communications, Browser Based Design, Illustration and Installation Design.
Alum Chiharu Tanaka (MFA09, Graphic Design ) was a named a Winner in Print Communications. Tiago Cabaço (BFA student, Web Design + New Media ) was a Winner in Browser Based Design. Ming Zhao Li (also a BFA student in Web Design + New Media) was a Finalist in Illustration.
Earning Honorable Mention in Installation Design was a team of current Academy students and alumni: , presents an experimental typeface in an interactive promotional website. Users can type in any word and see it in the font, Klavika, displayed boldly on a picture that represents the word typed. Cabaço was able to achieve this level of interactivity by connecting the input field to a search query string in Flickr, which then returns the most relevant image results.
