Here's a little exercise in self-humiliation. Create your kitchen design layout in one of those consumer-level programs like Encore 3D Home Architect. Print it out. Hand the drawing over to your architect or contractor.
If not responding with outright laughter, they will politely smile and nod and pretend to look at it appreciatively--all before slipping the thing to the bottom of your client folder.
So, you've got to have kitchen design software that produces drawings the professionals will take seriously. Yet it's got to be inexpensive and easy enough to learn, without requiring you to read a 300 page user manual.
I spoke to Lisa Crounse, AutoCAD Freestyle Product Manager and Noah Cole, who is with Autodesk public relations, about this quandary.
