This new academic building is the fourth campus of an urban community college, George Brown College. While the three campuses located in downtown Toronto, this Waterfront Health Sciences Campus will be located in the heart of Toronto’s developing waterfront. The campus building will host schools of Dental Health, Health and Wellness, Health Services Management and Nursing in a single, purpose-designed facility. Built in a 492, 357 sq ft integrated vertical campus, the college encompassing a student enrolment of 3,500 students, 500 faculty, continuing education and clinical programs. On the ground floor, there is a flexible academic loft bar building along the west side. The next three upper levels accommodate retail, food services, clinics, student amenity space and an auditorium. The three storeys is transparent glass podium element facing to the south, east and north. A floating two-storey element is cantilevered on the south-east corner for library function. The library has an exterior terrace on the roof for a warm and inviting atmosphere with wood decking, pergola, and green roof landscape. Above the podium, there is a pair of stacked lecture hall volumes floats on the north-east corner.
