CAD Training Programs
CAD training (Computer Aided Drafting) or CADD (Computer Aided Drafting and Design) is a unique field usually offered by universities and colleges, as well as technical schools.
Degrees in drafting are primarily available in associates program. Few four-year schools offer a program such as this, however, one can extend their education by pursuing a four year degree in engineering or a related program. To become a mechanical drafter, civil drafter, structural drafter, or even an architectural drafter, one will have to obtain a degree in drafting, architecture, or engineering. Mechanical, structural, and civil drafting schools are few and far in between, but most colleges also offer an associates program in computer aided drafting. These individuals learn how to create drawings and computer simulations to prepare blueprints for mechanical devices. They will need to have a good working knowledge of materials, mechanical devices and machinery, computer programs, and design techniques, having an applicable knowledge of science and technology.
