Middle Schooler Told to Remove American Flag from his bike. | Up ...

This kind of news is just wrong. On Veterans week no less!

It seems that the Principal of Denair Middle School at 3701 Lester Road in Denair, CA 95316 Phone: (209) 632-2510 has told student Cody Alicea of the Turlock area in California he must remove the small American flag on a stick he has attached to his bicycle he rides to school. It’s not because the stick may cause him or someone else harm, but because the American flag may cause someone who lives in a different country to be upset. Attempts to reach the Principal have been unsuccessful as well as the Superintendent of the school system.

In America we used to be free, we had the right to express ourselves guaranteed by the 1st Amendment of our constitution.  I ask you……What has happened?

I grew up in a congenial neighborhood and attended a public school that requested,  that as a student, I say the pledge of allegiance to the flag every morning.  My parents taught me to be proud of our country but mostly I learned about our country in the very school that requested the pledge. I learned about the American Revolution. I learned about the sacrifices made by our country’s men and women in order to be free and fight tyranny.  I honor our fallen soldiers.  I honor our troops from the “home of the brave”. I wonder if the Denair Middle School is even teaching what it is to be patriotic?  Obviously not!
