How do you import a design into Dreamweaver cs4? | TechManch

You have to code it into dreamweaver. As far as I know you can’t directly import your entire layout. When I create something in Photoshop, I first have to slice it using the slice tool then as I’m coding in Dreamweaver I import those individual pieces where necessary as background images and inside divs…etc. Its not super complicated, but you have to know what you’re doing. Even if there is a way to directly import stuff you may not want to do it since it won’t make your site very dynamic.

You can import elements like images but it’s not sensible to create a whole page in PS, I or ID. Start in Dreamweaver not the other way around.

DW has a whole range of template structures to structure your site if starting out File> New > html template. Or you can find a site you like the structure of, right click > view source and copy and paste it into your code view page then play around with it to decide just how your site should look. YouTube has a bunch of videos for each step so perhaps try it that way. If you are creating more than one or two pages you’ll want to be using CSS and that can’t be created in those programs. There’s also a bunch of forums where people will help. I have found the folks at Killersites very helpful for instance..
