Repair ZIP, MS Office Files (.DOCX, .XLSX, .PPTX) Free Download

Many a times we end up with zip archives that are either corrupt or incompletely downloaded and get the message ‘Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive’ when we try to open them. Since extraction utilities such as 7-Zip check for CRC integrity, the almost complete ZIP file which is missing only small parts still becomes useless.

We have already shown you how you can fix corrupt MP3 files caused by incomplete download using a free MP3 repair tool. Similar to this, you can also repair corrupt ZIP archives using a freeware such as DiskInternals ZIP Repair. By fixing the ZIP structure of the damaged archive, this free program restores a copy of the original corrupt archive.

Recover Corrupt ZIP Archives

Download DiskInternals ZIP Repair (link at bottom) and install the program

Run the program to start the 3 step wizard.

Step 1: Click Next to start the Zip Repair Wizard.

Step 2: Click Browse and select the corrupt ZIP file to be restored. By default DiskInternals ZIP Repair names the repaired file with a preceding ‘recovered_’ in the same folder as the original file.
