A previous story we had talked about Facebook and the rumor of the Facebook email being revealed soon. A source from ADnet has cclaimed that Microsoft is working with them as well. We have the following quote from them, “the Office team has been working on this for a while now”, in reference to the full enchilada of MS Office Web Applications and support as part of the top social network in the Facebook email. Implications for this rollout by Facebook, of a full blown legitimate email function are astronomical. A half a billion subscribers gives Facebook a robust pool of opportunity. When you add in the MS Office Suite to be offered, that is the old one two punch as best as we can tell.
With the privacy war between Google and Facebook now in full swing, the thought of one of these two giants ready to acquire more personal data will tend to put many off. Nevertheless, Facebook looks like it is headed to become even more of a basic necessity to its many millions of users’ lives.
