Last week over at the Microsoft HQ, was a little frantic. They sniffed out over 11 vulnerabilities that needed a little bit of patching. Henceforth, the company released a statement that contemplated the level of security which is needed these days.
The patch that is going to be released on Tuesday, will not only address Microsoft Office 2010, but it’ll also be applied to Office 2011 – the Mac version. Out of 11, 3 updates were flagged as critical, as they referred to the highest level of threat within the entire MS Office 2k10 and 2K11 package.
Meanwhile, the rest of the updates were labeled as “Important”. They’ll patch up the inbuilt Virtual Private Network (Unified Access Gateway 2010), which lets enterprise level workers connect to each other and share documents online.
Critics were not surprised to see the upcoming update wave. Maybe some of them were already too skeptical of Microsoft’s promises; they just needed to hear the announcement as a proof of the company’s in-capabilities. “If you ask me, I’d never be surprised to see them (Microsoft) releasing patches for the MS office 2010 Suites” – said Andrew Storms, Director of the Security Operations at nCircle.
