I recently got a laptop, but I am not sure if I should upgrade or not. I am definitely not a technology person, so I really need things to be broken down for me. I have Windows Vista Basic on my laptop and Windows XP on my desktop. I want to upgrade both to Windows 7 because I hear it’s the best, but why? Can someone please break them down for me? To tell you the truth there are no big changes. All that they have different is new theme, and a couple eye candy things that are useless. I recommend ditching windows and getting Linux or Mac. Linux is free and has eye candy that is use-full and Linux is customizable to a great extent. Ubuntu looks rather dull when you first get it but when you Google Ubuntu themes. You will find a great number of themes like the bluespace theme and many others. Go to Ubuntu.com and they will send you a (100% FREE) cd. Linux is packed full of free software and instead of using MS office you can use OpenOffice. OpenOffice can save files in any format. Also if you would like to run MS Office you can run it in WINE, PlayOnLinux or Cedega. Linux is not just for geeks. My mom uses it lol and trust me she is not a geek, LOL. @ Vista with sp2 isn't a total mess. Windows 7 is still more stable though. I work in IT, so I upgrade pretty quickly.
