I have done a lot of 98 and XP and Vista installs – always from OEM and never had a problem. A client of mine asked for a Windows 7 install and I told him to buy an OEM (full not upgrade) version (from Tiger Direct). However, this will not boot from the CD. The cover references http://www.microsoft.com/oem/sblicense/OPK – which seems to indicate I have to do a preinstall and have to be an registered reseller in order to get at that code.
However, I see other information aroound that says that is not required and that it should run from the CD. Tiger claims its no different than an XP OEM install.
