After finding out what is wrong with your Windows registry, the next obvious step is to repair the errors. You can do this on your own provided you take extra care to follow the instructions exactly as told to you.
The first step after diagnosis is to determine a specific date when you know your computer was running perfectly. This will be your restore point. If your operating system is Windows 2000, XP, or Vista, then let Windows establish the restore point for you. All you need to do is prompt it with the following commands:
Click on Start, proceed to All Problems, then to Accessories, System Tools and then Backup. These are the commands assuming you are using Windows Vista. When you get to a prompt asking you for a restore point, input the date you earlier confirmed. You will then be asked to follow a series of steps that will fix your registry problems.
If you have never done a restore point, then this will make things a little more complicated because then you will have to repair the registry on your own. To do this, you should have enough experience and familiarity with Windows registry. If not, do not even attempt to fix the problem manually because it could cause permanent damage to your computer.
