Windows Phone 7 devices went on sale this week at AT&T ( NYSE: T ) and T-Mobile with AT&T selling the Samsung Focus and HTC Surround for $200 each with a two-year contract, and T-Mobile is selling the HTC HD7 for $200 with a two-year contract.

It's not exactly clear how well sales are going. T-Mobile isn't commenting and an AT&T spokeswoman said the phone was "already receiving strong interest from our customers right out of the gate," according to an article in TheStreet is citing a market research source who tracks phone sales as saying some 40,000 Windows Phone 7 phones were sold on Monday when the platform launched. Consider, also, that Microsoft ( NASDAQ: MSFT ) has pumped $100 million into advertising the new platform.

Still, the critical Christmas-selling season is coming up, and carriers and manufacturers typically slash prices to drive sales.

I find it hard to believe that Google's Android is selling 73 MILLION phones per year and the iPhone is selling 98.5 MILLION phone per year (based on your stated daily sales stat).
