Hi folks,
As I work for a charity out in Israel, my own personal Compaq laptop fried its video card, and a friend gave me her Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. It had some faults which I have fixed, mainly a bad power supply and a corrupt install of Vista.
I have install Windows XP Media Center edition, I am stuck with Media Player 9, and v11 will not install on this machine which is surprising. Apparently its because I have XP MCE 2002 rather than the newer 2005 version.
I did an upgrade to SP3 and IE8.
I find it quite surprising XP MCE has a non upgradable Media player. Guess thats why it never caught on.
Can the video playback features of XP MCE be used with VLC or some better video player instead? I rather not faff around with getting extra codecs :o) I manage to bust the region protection on the DVD drive using a firmware hack.
