I have used the same Windows XP SP3 slipstream CD many times before, but maybe not a fresh install on this current hardware. The last install on this new hardware was probably taken from a backup copy of drive C, made by Macrium Reflect. But now I am doing a fresh clean install, so that might be irrelevant. What can cause the following error? It occurred while doing a clean install of Windows XP SP3, after the install almost completed, at the same time the dialog about automatically adjusting display settings came up. Otherwise there was nothing unusual or difficult about the installation, I have installed Windows thousands of times. Windows Registry Recovery. One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful. Thanks.
